Setting a Saved Search

In order to setup a saved search for the portable screen, you must first run a search by populating all the required fields. We've done so here as an example.

The Choose Search Locations field. As it is not possible to search Craigslist without specifying where you want to search, you must first appropriate a geographical location (Note: the Start Search button will be gray until you choose a search location). Once you click the Search Location button, you'll see a location pop-up screen where you can click to mark any combination of cities/states/countries from where you want the search results to come from.

The Search Criteria pane (also located on the left side of the main screen window) is a matrix of search preferences including positive keywords, negative keywords, category, sub-category, and others. This is the same group of preferences found on Craigslist, except with addition of the powerful Negative Keywords field. This field allows you to type in words and phrases which will further filter out the search results so that you can more accurately and efficiently find exactly what you're looking for, without having to sift through countless "false-positive" hits. (Note: For creative suggestions concerning how to effectively use keywords and search preferences, please see the video pages on our website)

What you enter in the Search Name field (located on the left of the screen underneath the Main Menu, Search Settings, Filter Settings, etc. buttons) is what will show up in your portable screen upon future use, and will be the saved search you can refer to. This field has no limitations or character restriction, so you can write in whatever will make it easy for you to remember what the search is about. Make this field a unique identifier for ease of use later on. The example on our image is “travel partner south america”, meaning that we’ve set the search criteria under the keyword "brazil, argentina, uruguay", with a geographical area encompassing the entire US.
